Katie Young is a Client Services Manager with Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC). Katie has trained in welfare services, community development and is currently completing her masters of clinical psychology. Katie has a commitment to social justice and equity for all women and families to access safe and affordable housing and live a life free from violence.
Katie equally has a commitment in supporting staff addressing self-care needs and vicarious trauma. Katie has a history, that stems 15 years, working in the homelessness sector. Katie has worked extensively with women and families that have complex needs, been subjected to domestic and family violnce (DFV) and histories of trauma.
Over the last 5 years WAGEC has increasingly supported women, children and young
people who are on temporary visas escaping DFV and Katie has been a big advocate in this space to increase access to services and having their basic human rights met.
